Now I am into my 7th week of a broken wrist with a week and a half to go. It has certainly been frustrating on the writing front, having to use the caps lock facility for every capital letter and slowly and laboriously type, hence my long silence…
However, another of my gripes with having just one available hand – thank goodness the damaged one is my left and not my major (right) one – is commercial bottles on the market. It seems like the manufacturers have chosen aesthetic appearance over practical use.

These two examples of dome shaped bottles – no commercial names mentioned – demonstrate two aesthetically pleasing objects but ones that cannot be easily handled by someone with only one working hand. Maybe I have uncovered a huge can of worms here, so to speak, I certainly think it demands an article. After all, how many other people with the use of one arm, some permanently, might struggle with this problem? What do they do? Boycott all dome shaped products or have to adapt by finding a way of managing? It is an issue that needs addressing by the commercial sector, in my opinion.
