Benjamin Zephaniah 1958 -2023

I just wanted to write a very brief post to honour this great poet. He had a real way with words and people. I have at least one of his books and was fortunate enough to see him on stage at the Cheltenham Literature Festival a few years ago. His death really shook me up, both the suddenness of it – he was only ill a matter of weeks – and the fact that he was a few months younger than me. A certain reminder of my mortality. Like him, we need to make every day count. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
