Jember – My talk with slides

I would like to share with my followers a video which I made recently. It is based on a talk and slide show which I have given several times about an amazing lady and advocate to the poor, Dr Jember Teferra.

Jember died in 2021 but not until she had left an amazing legacy raising tens of thousands of slum dwellers from poverty in her city, Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. Her passion for the poor and for the Lord Jesus Christ spurred her on in the work.

Jember inspired many such as Bob Geldof to fundraise for the project and later Comic Relief. She may have been small and quietly spoken but she had a huge heart for the poor. Please listen to the video to learn more about her.

Her book ‘Bible Reflections from a life devoted to the poor’ was edited by myself and published by my colleague, Arthur Champion. It is available directly from me via my website bookshop at http://www.journojohnson.com and costs £10 to cover our publication costs. Over and above this all donations go directly to two charities – TESFA which sponsors the children and the elderly in the projects and Birhan College or the Institute which trains up more workers to continue the work Jember began.
