When visiting Norfolk recently for a family holiday to celebrate my sister’s 70th birthday, we stumbled by chance on the village of Corpusty where the North Norfolk Arts Festival was running. A local eccentric woman working with wood was heard to say -“You don’t come to Norfolk unless you have a reason to come!” Yes, a bit out of the way, but wonderful as usual and the weather held out good.

The large cottage we stayed in, Cliff Cottage, was for 9 people and had a lovely indoor swimming pool as an optional extra, fantastic. But we did fill every part of the cottage with 3 lively toddlers under the age of 5 and one 6 year old + a small dog. Chaos rained but of the best sort!

The weather was good as we visited Holt street market, Latham’s superstore in Potter Heigham, and made it down 65+ steps to the beach at Mundesley. The latter is certainly not for the faint hearted.
On the Monday we hired a small electric powered boat from Marsham broad, especially selected by my sister as being quieter than the main Wroxham terminal. It certainly was peaceful and a great way to view nature, have a bit of fun on the water, and tire out some busy youngsters. We were glad to find the Greyhound pub for a lunchtime stop a short walk from our final destination at Hinkley broad before returning once again to Marsham.

We returned home the following day to Gloucestershire exhausted, following a few early mornings, but very happy. A lovely way to spend quality time with my niece, partner and family and my nephew, partner and family and to celebrate my sister’s 70th birthday in style.
