About Me

Hello I am Sheila Johnson and I am a member of the Society of Authors and the Association of Christian Writers.

I have a diploma in journalism and have written several hundred articles for the local press – Gloucestershire Echo, Cheltenham and Gloucester News – and the national press – New Writer, Good News newspaper, Inspire magazine, Woman Alive, Classic Ford Magazine and Cotswold Life among many others.

I’ve published three books, Waireka (2018) and Alpha Male (2016); and in 2023 I have edited and released a book about advocate of the poor in Ethiopia, Dr Jember Teferra, along with author, Arthur Champion. She has written the Bible reflections and prayers herself but we have arranged them in biographical context along with full-colour photographs of the projects she supported. All books available from Sheila Johnson at journojohnson@aol.com

Then in 2023 I extensively edited and released a book about advocate of the poor in Ethiopia, Dr Jember Teferra, along with author, Arthur Champion. Waireka: Sweet Waters

WAIREKA: Sweet Waters. Researching her Great Uncle’s story both online and in New Zealand, Sheila Johnson (writing as Sheila Donald) decided to use the information she had collected to write a fiction book based on this history. Her ancestor had met a nursemaid on board the ship to New Zealand and later married her. Sheila decided to tell the story from the nursemaid’s point of view, and so ‘Waireka: Sweet Waters’ was born. It is a story set against the farming background of nineteenth century New Zealand. It follows Eliza’s journey from her home in Scotland all the way to Wellington, New Zealand to be one of the first early pioneers as she and her husband, Alister set up a dairy farm. It’s a story of love and tragedy, hope and despair but chiefly a tale of survival in the new country. Waireka is available directly from Sheila Johnson in paperback form or in kindle on Amazon.com
