50 Years of the Association of Christian Writers

Above is an article I wrote which was published in the May issue of Together magazine, which resources Christian retailers, suppliers and writers. There is always an article from one of the ACW committee members each month. In May, it was the turn of our Vice Chair, Fiona Lloyd writing on the topic of books for everyday life. There is also this article of mine, although I am not a committee member. Why? Because, this coming weekend, at the start of June, the UK and Commonwealth, celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of our wonderful Queen, Elizabeth II, but it is also the 50th celebration weekend of the Association of Christian Writers which began in 1971. So, not quite as long ago as the 1953 Coronation of the Queen, but we still believe it to be an event worth celebrating. But why choose the same weekend as the Queen’s celebration? In one word, Covid. Yes, it should have officially been in 2021 but then we couldn’t celebrate and get together because of the spread of Covid. All the more reason to celebrate our first big coming together then? You bet it is, and while we’re there we will also raise a glass to our amazing Queen, a woman of faith and service.

The 1953 Coronation

Happy 50th Birthday Association of Christian Writers. Happy Jubilee Your Majesty.

  1. It’s lovely to find more Christian writers on the web! Christians creating and reflecting the Creator in what they do.
