Oxford Trip April 2026

My husband has been going to Oxford quite regularly for his cancer treatment. But recently we decided to make a point of staying there and exploring this university town with all its famous students.

As this image shows, the Sheldonian Theatre is where the students at Oxford go to graduate. A lovely old building built in the seventeenth century.

I believe it is from this chair that the students go to receive their certificates.

It also can boast of some of the best views of Oxford from the cupola at the top of the building. Visiting for just a day, we could hardly cover a tour of all the many colleges, but no trip to Oxford can be fully complete without visiting Keble College which houses the very famous painting, Light of the World by Pre-Raphaelite artist, Holman Hunt. An absolute must if you have the time. It can be found in the chapel at Keble College.

Keble College and its grounds.

There is also the well-known Bodleian Library but we will just have to save that pleasure for another day…
